Step 2, setting up a domain name is slightly more tricky. Your domain name will be the name of your website and the name that people type into there browsers or search engine when they are looking for your site. This name will be totally unique to you and you alone. A lot of thought should be put into your site name as this is what attracts people to your site. Your domain name should be similar to what your site is about and it should not be too long as people will not be able to remember it when they go to type it in (www.areallyreallyreallylongwebsitenametoremember.com).

There are numerous companies on the internet that provide domain names such as GoDaddy and LetsHost. If you go to one of these sites you will be able to check your domain name to see if it available to buy. If it is not available, they will give you a list of related names which are available for you to use. Domain names are not expensive, usually about $15 for  1 year and you can choose the amount of time you want to keep the domain name for, eg. 1year, 2years, 5years etc.

Remember, the internet has been around for many years now so not every name that you think of will be available. But with a bit of persistence and clever thinking you should not have any trouble coming up with a name that will suit your website.

Step3, promoting with the public is pretty self explanatory. Try to get as much attention to your site from the general public in your locality. This can be done by putting signs in shops and supermarkets or putting an advertisement in your local newspaper. Do not underestimate the power of promoting with the public as this can be extremely financially rewarding.

Step4, promoting with friends is also self explanatory. Get your friends and relations to check out your website and purchase some products to get you off your feet.

Step5, promoting with articles is a little harder than the previous 2 steps. First of all you have to write an article on a particular subject of your choice and then you register and submit it to article sites on the internet. If you don’t know of any article sites, www.ezine.com is a pretty good place to start, or else you can search for them in your search engine. Your article will contain a link to your website and that will drive traffic and hopefully customers to your site. Remember that your article must be relevant to a particular subject and not just spam as this is a sure way to get kicked out of the article site doubly fast. If you are no good at writing articles you can get somebody who is to do it for you, but you may have to pay for this and you will have to make sure it is good quality before submitting it.

Step6, promoting with clasifieds means promoting with newspapers and magazines. This usually costs money so it may not be feasible when starting out but it is definitely recommended once you start earning.

Step7, promoting with online groups can be very lucrative if done properly. If you go to google groups you will see pages of different groups on different subjects which are available to join. Once you join a group, you post messages in that group and the other members comment on your posts. You can join as many groups as you want and once you are a member and posting, you can slip in a link to your website and generate more traffic and customers that way.
